1. No professional relationship
By using this Site you agree that GetClac is not engaged by you as a tax advisor, attorney, accountant, broker, fiduciary, or financial planner. Nothing on this Site creates a client, advisor, or agent relationship of any kind. Do not rely on this Site as the sole basis for any tax, financial, or legal decision.
2. Estimates, not authoritative figures
Our calculators are designed to give you a useful, directional estimate for planning and record-keeping. They are simplified models. They cannot know your complete financial situation, and they are not guaranteed to produce the number that appears on your actual tax return. Small differences between a calculator result and your filed return are normal and are not necessarily an error in either.
3. Scope of what we calculate
Our calculators generally cover the simplified federal treatment of a common situation. They do not, unless a page explicitly says so, account for:
- The Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction under Section 199A, including its limits and phase-ins
- Itemized deductions, above-the-line adjustments, or standard-vs-itemizing comparisons
- Tax credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, education credits, and premium tax credits
- Retirement plan contributions, including SEP-IRA, Solo 401(k), HSA, and 401(k) deferrals, except where a field is explicitly provided
- Self-employed health insurance deduction amounts and eligibility rules
- Capital gains, capital losses, net investment income tax, or passive activity rules
- Multi-state income allocation, nonresident returns, or state-specific credits
- Dependents, childcare, education deductions, or the child and dependent care credit
- Estimated tax penalty computations, including Form 2210 exceptions and annualized income methods
- Business entity elections such as S corporation status, or the tax effects of incorporating
If any of these apply to you, your actual tax situation is more complex than any simplified calculator can model, and you should obtain professional advice.
4. Accuracy of source material
We take care to source our tax figures from official publications, such as the IRS annual inflation adjustments, the applicable year's Form 1040-ES instructions, and Social Security Administration fact sheets. However, tax law changes frequently, and we cannot guarantee that any figure is current, complete, or applicable to your situation. Official figures may also be revised after publication. Always confirm critical numbers against the primary source before relying on them.
Nothing on this Site is a substitute for the official instructions published by the Internal Revenue Service.
5. State taxes
Where a calculator offers a state tax estimate, it applies a single flat rate that you enter. That is a rough approximation. State income tax is not a flat rate: many states have graduated brackets, multiple taxing authorities, credits, add-ons, and different treatment for pass-through income. Treat any state figure shown as a placeholder for planning, not as a calculation of what you owe.
6. No guarantee of results
We make no warranty, express or implied, that any calculator will produce a correct result, that it will be error-free, or that it will be available without interruption. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any calculator at any time. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall GetClac, its operators, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of this Site or your reliance on anything shown here. This includes any error in a calculation, any omission, or any reliance on an estimate.
You accept full responsibility for evaluating the accuracy and suitability of any result before acting on it, and you release GetClac from all liability arising from that decision.
